  • Our School Environment

    'All individuals matter'

At Winchelsea Primary School, we take pride in our school environment as we believe that a stimulating, enriching environment provides the best learning conditions for our children. We also have a variety of areas to support personal development and wellbeing, which we feel are of equal importance.

    Classrooms and learning environments

Our school site has vibrant, inclusive classrooms and communal spaces to allow pupils to work as a class, in smaller groups or on a one-to-one basis. Classrooms have a reading area, working walls to scaffold learning and areas to celebrate and enhance learning.

    Sports and active play

Sporting and active activities are varied at our school due to our provision. Our field is....

We have an outdoor gym, climbing wall and trim trail, which is used on a daily basis during lunch and playtimes.

    Forest school and outdoor provision

Our Forest School area is used to enhance our curriculum and provide outdoor learning opportunities, which include pond dipping, making camp fires, exploring mini habitats.

    Gardening area

This is used to grow fruit and vegetables by the children.  We also have an after-school gardening club called G.R.O.W.S. (Gardening Rangers of Winchelsea School)

    Sensory Pod

We have a pod in school that has a range of sensory resources and interactive, immersive displays. This is used for our 'lunchtime lounge' and to provide immersive experiences to enhance the curriculum.

    Nurture Pod

Our Nurture pod is used for counselling, meetings and one to one sessions with specialists.

    The Library

We have an 'under the sea' themed library where children can visit to share and enjoy books, have small phonics group sessions and use the space for group work.

     Reflection Garden

Our garden lies in the centre of our school and is used at lunchtime for some calm time but also for sensory activities and circuits. It has quiet areas to reflect; flowers and plants; sensory enhancements such as bubbles, water features and sound scapes and areas to read.
