    Free School Meals

If your child is in Reception, Year 1 or Year 2 you are entitled to a free hot meal in school (known as a Universal Infant Free School Meal – UIFSM).  Our provider is Ideal School Meals.  When you complete your child’s new starter form, you can opt in or out of your child receiving this free hot meal by choosing to register or not with Ideal School Meals. Information about how to register is below.

However, whatever year group your child is in, you may be entitled to claim extra funding for your child’s school and free school meals for your children if you are:

    • Universal Credit – your household income must be less than £7,400 a year (after tax and not including any benefits you get)
    • Income Support
    • Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
    • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
    • Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
    • The guaranteed element of State Pension Credit
    • Child Tax Credit (provided you are not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190)
    • Working Tax Credit run-on (paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit)

Free school meals offer a healthy, wide selection of options for your child at lunch time and can save families approximately £460 per year.
