Children from Amethyst and Emerald classes joined in with 350 children from primary schools across the Sleaford to compete in a mini Olympics event. This is the eighth such event organised by Lincolnshire Central School Sport Partnership, held this time at the Eslaforde Park football ground on Thursday 30th June.
Miss Couling organised the children and was assisted by over 50 Young Sports Leaders from secondary schools, along with a number of local sporting clubs and coaches and former Olympic swimmer and Winchelsea Teaching Assistant Sophie Allen giving boxercise coaching.
The children along with Miss Couling created some amazing carnival hats and were accompanied by a samba band in an Olympic opening ceremony. The different sports were divided into areas named after the four regions of Rio and all of the children took turns at each sport.
Special mention has to go to the Year 3/4 Tag Rugby team who triumphed over the much larger William Alvey School by a score of 5-0. I am reliably informed that our teamwork and support play made the difference. Finally, a huge well done to Abigail in Emerald class as she won the Outstanding Archer certificate and has been asked to train with a local archery club in Sleaford as they see huge potential in her.
A very well done to all the children who represented the school and comment was made to the adults by teachers from other schools about your teamwork and manners.
