Our Trip to Twickenham December 2017
Our annual trip to Twickenham to watch the men’s and women’s Varsity matches was another great success. Thirty six boys and girs from the tag rugby club made the trip along with Mr Keetch, Miss Stewart and Mr Evans.
We left school at 7.45 am on the bus and arrived at the huge stadium by 11.30am. The women’s match had just started in torrential rain and after an exciting match the Cambridge ladies winning convincingly 24 – 0. We then had to wait an hour until the men’s match so decided to all go for a walk around the stadium and buy some souvenirs of our day. We bought rugby balls, key rings, programmes and gloves (just as well as it was freezing!} When the men’s match started the stadium was quite full with over 30,000 spectators. After a very tense match with many hard tackles, great defence and powerful scrummaging Cambridge won 20 – 10. After every score the stadium announcer played music and we all enjoyed jumping around and dancing.
It was then time to head home and we found our coach outside the stadium and began our journey. We stopped at Peterborough service station for a meal and managed to get back to school at 9.45.
We cannot wait to do it again next December.
However we hope to organise a Cricket trip to Trent Bridge in the Summer
