    Lead for Pastoral, Safeguarding, Behaviour and Attendance

    Salary: G8 - £35,142 - £39,152

    Contract: 32.5 hours per week / 52-week contract - Permanent

    Location: Winchelsea Primary School

    About the Role

    We are seeking an exceptional and compassionate leader to join our school as Lead for Pastoral, Safeguarding, Behaviour and Attendance. This is a pivotal role at the heart of our school community, ensuring that every child feels safe, supported, and able to thrive.

    Working closely with the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team, you will shape and drive our pastoral vision, lead safeguarding practice, and champion excellent behaviour and attendance across the school. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with the expertise, integrity, and commitment to make a profound difference to children and families.

    Key Responsibilities

    Safeguarding

    • Serve as the Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL), ensuring statutory compliance and best practice.
    • Lead on all aspects of child protection, early help, and multi-agency working.
    • Maintain accurate, timely records and ensure robust systems are in place.
    • Provide safeguarding training, guidance, and support to staff.

    Pastoral Leadership

    • Oversee the pastoral provision for pupils, ensuring early identification of need and effective intervention.
    • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils, families, and external partners.
    • Lead on wellbeing initiatives that promote inclusion, resilience, and positive mental health.

    Behaviour

    • Lead the strategic development of behaviour culture and policy.
    • Support staff in implementing consistent, restorative approaches.
    • Analyse behaviour trends and develop targeted interventions.
    • Promote a positive, respectful school environment where every child can succeed.

    Attendance

    • Lead the school’s attendance strategy, ensuring high expectations and early intervention.
    • Work with families to remove barriers to attendance and improve outcomes.
    • Monitor attendance data and report to SLT and governors.

    About You

    We are looking for someone who is:

    • An experienced safeguarding practitioner with DSL training (or willingness to undertake it).
    • Skilled in pastoral care, behaviour leadership, and working with vulnerable pupils.
    • A confident communicator who can build strong relationships with families and professionals.
    • Calm, resilient, and able to manage sensitive situations with discretion and empathy.
    • Highly organised, reflective, and committed to continuous improvement.
    • Passionate about ensuring every child feels safe, valued, and able to learn.

    Early Years Practitioner Teaching Assistant within Early Years

    Salary: G3 - £24,796 - £25,989 FTE

    Contract: 32.5 hours per week Term time only - Permanent

    Location: Winchelsea Primary School

    Start Date: April 2026

    About the Role

    We are seeking a dedicated Nursery Practitioner to join our EYFS team. You will:

    • Support children’s learning and development through play-based, child-centred activities.
    • Create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment.
    • Work collaboratively with the EYFS lead, colleagues, parents, and carers to ensure every child thrives.
    • Be a great practitioner who welcomes every child, supports their needs and creates an inclusive environment for children to feel a sense of belonging.
    • Uphold safeguarding, compliance, and EYFS statutory requirements.

    What We’re Looking For

    • Qualifications: Minimum Level 3 in Childcare/Early Years (or equivalent).
    • Experience: Previous work in an EYFS setting desirable.
    • Skills: Warm, caring, and enthusiastic with strong communication and teamwork abilities.
    • Commitment: Passionate about supporting children’s wellbeing, learning, and development.
